TIGER Grant for Dallas Street Car, Dallas, Texas

Resulting in a successful grant award for a streetcar starter line in Dallas, Scott Polikov of Gateway Planning worked with the North Central Texas Council of Governments, DART, The T, Dallas and Fort Worth to form a coalition to pursue funding under the Congressional funding program, TIGER I, to initiate streetcar systems in the DFW Metroplex.  That effort built upon the technical work initiated by the Oak Cliff Transit Authority, a non-profit set up to jumpstart a streetcar system in Dallas.  Scott led the formulation of the regional coalition’s story that streetcars on each end of the DFW Commuter Rail system would leverage the workforce/employment neighborhoods next to the respective downtowns and create a more customer-friendly regional transit system.
