Brandon Palanker



Brandon A. Palanker is a downtown and suburban revitalization strategist and developer of walkable, mixed- use environments. As a key member in the launch of Renaissance Downtowns, the northeast’s branded leader in the redevelopment of urban-suburban transit oriented downtowns, Brandon was co-creator of the company’s Unified Development Approach™ and innovative Crowdsourced Placemaking program.


During his tenure at Renaissance Downtowns, Brandon led new business development, public affairs and community engagement. He was instrumental in garnering community support and municipal entitlements for over $10 billion of mixed-use development, representing over 10,000 residential units and nearly 20 million square feet of development potential. These successes occurred in some of the nation’s highest barrier to entry and NIMBY markets, demonstrating the potential for comprehensive public engagement based upon the ideals of social, environmental and economic responsibility (the Triple Bottom Line).


In 2015, Brandon formed 3BL Strategies to further his mission of catalyzing Triple Bottom Line revitalization for communities and regions across the country. 3BL integrates local placemaking and land use with regional infrastructure, transportation and public policy. This cross-silo approach supports the implementation of local and regional placemaking and development strategies that improve quality of life through improved quality of place, spurring job creation and sustainable economic development.


In January, 2017, Brandon moved to Dallas, TX to join forces with Scott Polikov of Gateway Planning Group to form a new real estate development entity, GP Development. This platform leverages Brandon’s experience as a Master Developer of walkable urban-suburban downtowns with Gateway’s proven ability to unleash economic and social value through integrating urban design, town planning, infrastructure and public-private financing strategies.


Mr. Palanker’s keen understanding of market trends and the use of social media to engage the public throughout the development process has positioned him as a leading expert in the arena of public engagement in real estate. He has spoken at numerous conferences and has been interviewed by leading industry publications that include the Urban Land Institute, the National League of Cities, the National Main Streets Organization, Vision Long Island, Sustainable Long Island, the American Planning Association, Multi Housing News and Multi Family Executive amongst others.


Mr. Palanker is a Board Member of the Real Estate Institute of Stony Brook University and the national Form-based Codes Institute. He also serves on the Urban Land Institute’s Mixed-Used Development Council.

 

Brandon has long been an active member of LOCUS Responsible Developers, working with their Steering Committee on policy positions and recommendations. He is also proud to be selected for the ongoing innagural class of ULI North Texas’ Center for Leadership Training program.


A Graduate of Pomona College in Claremont, CA, Brandon has strived to combine social responsibility with business success as demonstrated by his designation as Small Business Person of the Year by the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce during his time as President of Networked Now, LLC. His passion for community service is exhibited by his past participation on the Council of Overseers for the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts as an Advisory Board member of Destination LI, a charitable organization dedicated to fostering responsible, community driven economic development and placemaking initiatives throughout the Long Island region. Mr. Palanker is also a graduate of the National Charrette Institute at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
